¶ General
This feature allows a single parameter to be used on multiple CAN buses through a parameter reference.
A parameter reference allows you to:
- Decode the same parameter from multiple CAN buses;
- Avoid creating duplicate parameters for each CAN bus;
- Reduce device resource usage and stay within the available limits.
¶ Example
Creating a copy of a parameter (without using a reference)
To decode the same parameter from two CAN buses, you can simply duplicate the parameter:
However, this allocates additional device resources for the duplicated parameter:
Creating a parameter reference:

Select the required parameter.

Expand the Add Parameter menu and select Add Parameter Reference.

The parameter settings are not duplicated, and no additional device resources are allocated for the reference.
